I just received this dress and I have to admit, I was very worried about the sizing. My measurements put me anywhere from a 10 to a 16 (I'm normally an 8). I decided to go with the "average" of my measurements and order a 12. I'm 5'5", and I'm tripping on the dress. Nothing heels won't fix! One of the reasons I ordered up is because there were so many comments about the bust being small. I'm a 36D and the top of this fits absolutely perfectly. The boning in the top does not feel like it's going to be an issue at all.
The waist actually feels very big. According to the measurements for the 12, it should have been a borderline fit. I have more than enough room to move around (and to eat a large meal without having it show).
The dress is not 100% flattering at the moment. It definitely makes me look pregnant, and the way the bust is shaped, it kind of minimizes my shape. I think 5-10 lbs (or some spanks!) will make me look a little more shapely (in the dress's defense, I tried it on with a sports bra).
The fabric is very "flowy" and soft, and will be perfect for my New Year's Eve ball and January cruise!

Design is great, similar to a Valentino's gown in 2006. The color red is a nice deep bright red but the fabric is flimsy, doesn't look expensive, and the dangling piece of cloth at the back is too long. I might have to shorten it when I wear it again.

I wore this to the Air Force ball and got lots of compliments. It is a beautiful gown however the fit is a little off. My waist and hips were fine, loose even. There was a little room up on top too. The part in the middle was really tiny. I almost couldn't wear it. My five year old had to help my husband with the zipper. Thank goodness the zipper was sturdy! I would only recommend this to a friend if she has a tiny waist.

What a beautiful and flattering dress. With the corset bodice I would recommend ordering one dress size larger than normal as it is quite snug and a little confining (the new size was great)

Surprisingly lovely - I honestly didn't expect it.
Just too beautiful for words! Such a beautiful red dress that fits like a dream and normally I can't find the right social dress for my measurements (due to the mid & hip section) but this fits just beautifully! (Even my critical mom can't say anything about this dress :)) Don't forget to get a size larger as I did and the chest area should fit comfortably (my chest size 36B). Get this if you want to be the belle of the ball because you will be!

This is a stunning and classic on shoulder gown. I saw it at a beauty pagent on one of my friends as she was competing for Ms. Senior Arizona. I had to have one and ordered my own immediately.

I had recommended Chadwick's and this dress to a co-worker, who purchased hers first. Once I saw her in it, I knew I had to have it.
I purchased my dress to attend a debutante ball next spring. When it arrived and I tried it on I felt like I was floating on air. I had purchased a pair of shoes based on the color in the catalog and they match perfectly, because the color of the dress was exactly as depicted. I can't wait to wear it.
I was VERY disappointed. The dress looked great, except I couldn't get the zipper up beyond my waist. As others have expressed, it is way too small for the chest.

My bridesmaids bought this dress in Black for our Black & White re-marriage ceremony. A comparable dress sold at [...] but this dress had a more beautiful skirt. It looks nice on all the ladies and they run from size 4 to size 20.

I really liked the dress. After reading several comments, I ordered up one size from a 10 to a 12. When I recieved the dress, the bust area was a little big and I probably would have to have it taken up in the bust and hem. I am returning the dress due to I was given 3 formal evening gowns as "Hand-me Downs" and I felt that I didn't need anymore formal evening gowns. But I really liked the dress and would recommend it for someone who has a special event coming up.

The dress is gorgeous and attracts many compliments. The bodice lining is tight and has stays in it. I modified the lining (created slits) to give a bit more breathing room and it helped a lot. Even given the challenges I just mentioned I would still recommend it as it is beautiful.

I ordered this dress in advance because it was on back-order, now I just have to wait to wear it!It fits great, I ordered true to size because I am kind of small on top so I didn't have to worry about what previous posts said. The length is perfect for me in heels ( i am 5'7), and the cut is flattering. Because of the way the bodice fits I can actually eat and still feel comfortable. No tight waist bands! All in all, I am happy with my purchase.

It's a "true" red dress. Does not run true to size though. I normally wear an 8 or 10, so I ordered a 10. . .still too small! Will have to return, and order larger and have altered.

Was really worried this size 14 wouldn't fit me as I'm more curvy than statuesque like the Chadwick's model. And from the other reviews, the chest might be too tight, but it was perfect, even with my full C cup chest! I had high hopes for this dress, but alas, am returning it. Based on the feedback on the site, I ordered it 1 size larger than I normally wear. It is too big in the chest, and I don't care for how low the intermal bodice does - uncomfortable around the stomach. Too bad, as it is just so pretty in the photo.

I bought the dress (in red) for a Ballroom formal event in a size 12 Misses. The bust was too big -a tall guy could stand behind me and see everything that I was made of! The one-shoulder wasn't adjustable, and the dress was too long, even with my heels on (I'm 5 feet 2 inches tall). So I quickly ordered a size 10 petite, and it was the 2 inches shorter (as advertized) so the length was perfect with my shoes on. The bust was snug, but just right. Everyone at the formal said that I was radiant. I felt good the whole evening! But I'm glad I had enough time to re-oder another dress, or else!

I saw this dress my first time on Chadwicks, and just had to have it. I think it is such a classic beautiful dress. The size is in fact true, except for the bust. I never have that problem either as I am someone with wider hips and a smaller bust, that is usually my exact opposite problem. But I guess just keep that in mind when picking your size. You may need to go a size up.

I bought this in black in the largest size, but it was still too tight in the bust. On someone more slender and a little younger it would be beautiful. I loved the draping in front that camouflaged my tummy. If I could have bought it one size larger I would have exchanged it.

This dress is absolutely beautiful. The quality is excellent and it drapes naturally. The only complaint I have is that the bodice is "slightly" constricting. I had to go up a size in order for it to fit and it is still a little tight. Part of that is the design of the dress and how the bodice is made. But overall I give this dress a NINE!!!!

I bought this dress for a formal charity event that my company attends every year. I recieved a lot of compliments on the dress. It was comfortable to wear for a long evening, plus dancing. Based on some other reviews, I did order one size up than I normally wear and it fit perfectly. THe only place the dress is tight is in the bust, so keep that in mind when choosing a size.

I loved the dress but I wear a 14 or 16 but this was way too small in the chest/bust area. I would have needed about a 20/22 according to the way it fit. It was about 4" short of zipping.

Beautiful design but sizing is way off. I'm normally a size 10 dress, I read the other reviews and upsized to a 12 and I still couldn't zip up the back. It fit great in the waist and length, just not in the bust area. All my other dresses are 8's or 10's. If you get this and it fits, enjoy, because it is really different and beautiful.

This dress was a pleasure to wear. The fabric does not cling or squeeze anywhere. The bodice did fit snugly where it needed to for the dress to drape. Order with your 'up top' size in mind.
I'm 18 years old and am still in high school. I was looking for a classic dress that didn't plunge in the back or front, and fitted well. This dress was everything I wanted and more. The length is perfect and it may be a little tight on top, but I know it won't fall off while dance. Its a great dress for all ages!

I ordered a size 14 (also a 16 that was backordered) and was so pleased that the 14 fit almost perfectly. The bodice is lined and boned so braless is an option. The length was great, low or high heels would work. The Color was a pleasant relief, a true red, not an orange red. I look forward to wearing this dress at next year's USMC Birthday Ball.
