I purchased this dress despite reading some of the reviews written by dissatisfied customers. The reviews were accurate. The dress has too much material around the bust and the seam that should go underneath the bust, goes straight across it. Also, there seems to be too much material in the dress. Overall, it does not fit well.

I made a promise to myself - lose 50 pounds by my 45th b-day. I have lost about 27 pounds so far. This dress is the perfect dieter's dress for the transition period when you are "between" sizes. I was probably a size 16 (165 pounds) when I started losing the weight, I'm now down to a size 12 - At least I ordered this in a 12. It is cut and styled in such a way that yesterday I wore it with heels, a pretty belt (to show off my newly slender waist) and some jewelry and it was great for an afternoon wedding - then, last night, I took off the belt and jewelry, replaced the heels with keds for a potluck casual look. Don't worry about where the seam for the empire waist hits you. Don't worry about it not looking like the photo. If you are losing weight and between sizes, order one in each color and you've got yourself a wash 'n wear go anywhere wardrobe. I plan to pack these tight in my carry on luggage for a world cruise in a few months with no worries about wrinkles.[...] Just have fun.

I read the comments before I bought the dress. They were as inconsistent as the dress. One would say "too small"...The next would say "too big". I took a chance and bought the dress.
The truth is that is cut weird. I ordered one size up (based on reviews). The arms are way too tight, while the rest of the dress is huge. The empire seam is supposed to sit just below the chest--it sits right in the middle of the chest. The neck line is weird too. If you pull the empire seam down, then you're showing way too much cleavage. If you raise it up, then that empire seam looks weird.
The picture is totally deceiving. It looks much more flattering and higher quality than it is. The fabric is similar to a slip-like material. Very thin and flimsy.
Overall, it was a disappointment. I'm waiting till it's washed to see how it shrinks. The color is so great (green) that I'm still going to try to make it work. That--and I don't have the time for returns.
I love Chadwicks--and I hope they take these reviews seriously.

The color I ordered - clover green - is great! I like the dress, but will be sending it back. It is a good bit too big through the chest and waist. I hope the next size down will be a better fit. I plan on wearing the dress to work and church and will definitely dress it up with some bright jewelery. It seems to be wrinkle resistant as I pulled it right out of the package and could have worn it immediately. Also looks to be easy care. I would recommend this dress to others but would say to order a size down.

This dress would be great if the empire waist line were proportioned correctly for me- unfortunately the empire waist seam line came across the center of the bust line on me- much too high! The upper front of this dress was not cut properly. That part of the dress was different from the picture in the catalog. The empire seaming should be below the bustline, not across it. Also, the front of the dress was not the same length as the back.

Definately needs proper undergarments to make it flow correctly. Not sure about anyone else, but no imagination is needed for curves, or bulges if it applies. I found though that a slip underneath made everything flow very nicely. I liked the effect after that was added.

I was surprised at the reviews that said the "fabric was flimsy." I do not find that to be true, it is a very soft knit that drapes beautifully due to the weight of the fabric. My husband walked in when I was trying on the dress (and matching sling back's)and said "Wow, that looks fabulous, very sexy." This dress would be good for traveling as all shipping wrinkles fell out after hanging for a couple of hours. I am truly perplexed by the negative reviews. A lovely dress; I'm considering purchasing another color as well.
